RECENT FEW YEARS

Joel has been consulting for a wide category of brands -- from helping launch the first All-Electric Ford Mustang to working on the Bloomberg presidential campaign. Prior to this, he was an ECD at McCann NY on the Mastercard account for almost five years. During this time, he was dedicated to evolve the priceless platform by fostering new inroads within the organization; From shining a light on products providing aid to refugees, to pushing new product and services for the LGBTQ community, and helped create equity in this space for mastercard from the moment he arrived at McCann.

His efforts have helped Mastercard earn International earned media exposure as well as a number of international awards; includding Grand Prix Lion at Cannes, D&AD Black Pencil, Multiple Gold and Silver OneShow Pencils, Andy’s BRAVEST Award, Clios, London International, including a ‘Best of Show’ at the ANA MULTI CULTURAL AWARD, and many more.

PAST YEARS

Joel has been fortunate enough to have worked all over the country at the most esteemed agencies in the world.
Born in Nicaragua and fleeing the contra war, his family would drive to Southern California in a green Fiat when he was 7 years old. It was there where two cultures clashed and somewhere between the impact of the skateboarding scene, his ability to draw and his mothers poor cooking… you could say he developed his unique style and dry brand of humor.

During his formative years he failed tremendously at math, science, and piano lessons – But, he continued to excel in the visual arts. He would later go on to graduate from the prestigious Art Center College of design in Pasadena California.

Over the years he would create memorable work for brands such as Guinness, FedEx, and Citi-Bank, to name a few. His work has also picked up an array of international industry awards; Cannes lions, including Gold. One Show pencils (Gold, Silver, Bronze), Kelly awards, Clios, Art Directors Club, AICP Best Art Director, EFFIES and many more. His broadcast for Guinness and Nextel earned the distinction of showcasing at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA).
Over the years Joel has been listed by industry publications on the international top ten Art Directors list, which tallies performances from all of the international awards.

Joel believes creative people have the power to bring brands ideas that can truly play a meaningful role in people’s lives.
He lives in New York with his wife and two kids.
